Sports & Fitness
Movement is medicine. Whether it's running through Madrid's parks, hitting the gym, or hiking in the mountains, staying active is a core part of who I am.
β Main Sports
Gym & Strength Training
Strength training for health, longevity, and feeling strong. The gym is where I build both physical and mental resilience.
- Focus on compound movements and functional fitness
- Mix of strength training and mobility work
- Always learning about proper form and programming
Cycling
Whether commuting through Madrid or exploring countryside roads, cycling is freedom on two wheels.
- Use cycling for commuting when possible
- Enjoy weekend rides along Madrid RΓo
- Dream of completing a multi-day cycling tour
Basketball
My home court for years. Basketball taught me teamwork, discipline, and the joy of competitive sports.
- Played organized basketball throughout my teenage years
- Position: Point Guard / Shooting Guard
- Still play pickup games when I can
- Love watching NBA and EuroLeague
Hiking
When I need peace, joy, or perspective, I head to the mountains. Hiking is where I find clarity and connection with nature.
- Regular hikes in Sierra de Guadarrama near Madrid
- Love multi-day treks and mountain adventures
- Ethiopia highlands, Pyrenees, and Alps on my list
- Always prepared with proper gear and safety essentials
π Live Activity Tracking
I track my runs and activities on Strava. Here's what I've been up to lately:
π― Other Activities
Bouldering
Problem-solving meets physical challenge. Bouldering is like debugging code, but with your whole body.
- Started exploring indoor bouldering in 2024
- Love the puzzle-like nature of boulder problems
- Great for building grip strength and body awareness
- Social sport - always meeting interesting people at the gym
Swimming
A childhood sport that stuck with me. Great for recovery and low-impact cardio.
- Learned as a kid and maintained throughout life
- Use it for active recovery
- Love swimming in the sea during summer
Skiing
Winter adventures on the slopes. Nothing beats the feeling of gliding down a mountain.
- Learned in the Spanish Pyrenees
- Try to hit the slopes at least once per season
- Baqueira-Beret and Sierra Nevada are favorites
Padel
Spain's favorite racket sport. Social, fun, and surprisingly intense.
- A very Spanish sport - hard to avoid it here!
- Great for playing with friends
- Still learning but enjoying the journey
π My Sports Philosophy
π Sports have always been a part of my life. From roller skating as a kid to competitive basketball in my teens, I've learned that movement is not just about physical healthβit's about mental clarity, discipline, and joy.
π I don't train for aesthetics or records. I train for longevity, energy, and the ability to do what I love for as long as possible. Whether that's hiking a mountain trail or playing pickup basketball with friends.
π Consistency over intensity. I've learned that showing up regularly beats occasional heroic efforts. Three runs a week for a year beats running a marathon once and burning out.
π Sports are social. Some of my best friendships were built on basketball courts, hiking trails, and gym floors. There's something special about shared physical effort that creates bonds.
